As a courtesy to buyers, the Chatham County Tax Commissioner’s Office has worked hard to be able to send the second installment of tax bills to new buyers who purchase property prior to July 1 of each year.  The Tax Commissioner’s Office is still bound by Georgia law to send the same bill to the seller.  The parties need to understand that this is not a mistake, nor is this double billing, but a tremendous benefit to the buyers, as many sellers do not send the second installment tax bill to the buyer.
